today i’m going to talk about my teaching plan for part a of unit 9, oxford english 3a. according to the title of this unit, we know this dialogue is about how to ask others to do something for you.first of all, i’d like to talk about the teaching content and the teaching aim of the lesson. as you know, in our daily life, try to ask others to help is inevitable. therefore, the pattern drills in this unit is close to our life which will enhance the interest of the students who are surprised at their ability of asking others to do something politely. in this unit, students are expected to understand and read the sentences: turn on the…, please. / turn off the…, please. /open the…, please./ close the…, please. /all right./ ok./ i’m sorry.
second, i’m going to talk about my teaching procedures.
at the first step, i will ask one students to close the door for me with the body gesture. therefore, students may have a general idea of pattern drills: close the…, please. then, a lot of other experiences are needed. students may be asked to close the window, close the pencil box, close the english book and something like that. after the practice of “close’, “open” is led in by the condition “i’m very “hot ”. a student will be asked to open the door for me, providing others with a visual understanding of “open” again. then, a quick practice of “open”, the same as “close” is needed again.
the second step is about the comprehensive practice of “open” and “close” through which, students are asked to follow the orders of mine. i will give them orders, slowly at first and then quicker and quicker, such as open your pencil box, open your school bag, close your eyes, close your mouth, open your eyes, close your school bag, etc. in such activity, students may feel interested in doing something so quickly that mistakes will happen here and there which means a challenge to them. besides the activity taken part in together, i may also ask some students as the representative of their group to compete in the front of the class while all the others are the judges. we will wait and see who the winner is that never makes mistakes during the competition.
at the third step, i will teach students another group of orders: “turn on” and “turn off”. i may begin it with the poor condition of the overhead projector which is not clear enough because of the shiny lights. therefore, i may say: oh, it’s not clear. please turn off the lights, please. the students following the order will again offer a visual experience and understanding for the rest. then, the poor light condition in the classroom will again lead to “turn on the light, please”. after the practice of “turn on” and “turn off”, a further understanding of the differences between “open” and “turn on”, “close” and “turn off” will be presented.12
here comes to the last step which is about the consolidation. first, a quick process of following the orders is carried out. second, some students will be asked to act as little teachers so as to give orders themselves through which the teacher is just a guider rather than a leader. students will be more active and excited in such students-oriented activity.
all above is the whole procedure of my teaching procedure of unit 9 on and off.12
