二、语法小贴士。
1． so that与so…that…的辨析
(1) so that意为“为的是…”，“以便能或使得能…”，强调目的。so that后面的从句常与情态动词连用，引导目的状语从句。
e.g. ① 说清楚点，好让他们听懂。speak clearly _______ _______ they can understand you.
    ② 他决定买一部照相机，以便在假期中可以照相。
     he decided to buy a camera ________ ________ he could take photos during the holiday.
(2) so that还有“结果是”，“以至于”的含义，此时so that可与so…that…通用。
e.g. ③这本书太难，我看不懂。the book is _______ _______ _______ i can’t understand it.
(3) so…that…意为“如此…以至于…”，“如此…结果…”，强调由某种原因产生的结果，引导结果状语从句。

2．instead of 是复合介词，后接名词、代词或者相当于名词的短语。
   意为“代替”，“而不是”。

    ③ 我们将步行去那儿而不是乘公共汽车去。

   instead是副词，意为“代替”，常放于句末，也可放于句首。

    ⑤ 他弟弟没有去,相反他去了那儿. his brother didn’t go there.________, he went there.
               = he ________ there ________ _______ his brother.
3. ought to 情态动词，意为“应该”，表示劝说或敦促。与should同义，常可以交替使用。
should口气比较肯定一些，说话人的主观信心要强烈一些。
e.g. ① 你应该少喝点酒。you ________ ________ drink less. =you ________ drink less
② 你不应该在外面待得太晚。you ________ ________ stay out so late.
                    = you ________ ________ ________stay out so late.
